This paper reports on how G-TELP functions as setting up the graded English classes, focusing on its correlation with Interchange Placement Test. Each of the following sections explains; (1) the prominent need for graded English classes, (2) the major role of the placement test, (3) data collecting (through G-TELP and Interchange Placement Test), and (4) data analyses. The correlation coefficients of these two criteria have only reached to 0.394 (with Interchange, as a pre-test) and 0.122 (post-test). These low figures result in the discrepancy between what the authors expected and the outcome of G-TELP, taking its background and the purpose into account. Further experimental researches will make it clearer on how we accomplish the more effective gradings for developing the overall English skills of learners. |
