| 内容記述 | Futabatei Shimei is well known as one of the founders of modern Japanese. But it is hard today to appreciate how he had gone through the difficulty getting out of the restrictions of literary convention at that time. The author minutely compared the styles in his works: the first translations of Russian literature, "Aibiki" and "Meguriai"; his first novel, "Ukigumo", which consists of 3 parts; the revised translations of the above mentioned 2 works. In comparing them, the author paid attention mainly to the punctuation marks Futabatei used and tried to follow the remarkable changes in his style. Futabatei translated 2 works of Turgenev from Russian, and in doing so, he carefully followed the punctuation style in the original. This method influenced the building of the form of modern Japanese sentences. As a result, Futabatei succeeded in a new written style free from conventional restriction, at first from necessity, then intentionally. | |||||||||||
