Focusing on the Japanese undergraduate-level students, one research experiment is conducted to clarify what the cloze test measures and to estimate how the test score and expectancy grammar skills overlap. The procedure of the survey is as follows; (1) constructing a research plan (three types of tests and questionnaire), (2) collecting the data through the test administrations, (3) computing all the raw score data into statistics, and (4) eliciting some remarks from the figures. The following conclusions are drawn by the results: (1) The cloze test shows a moderate correlation with the listening and the reading test respectively. (2) The cloze test requires the test-takers to utilize their expectancy grammar skills. (3) The cloze test can be used as a valid tool for a placement test., 10, KJ00004011196, P}, pages = {79--96}, title = {クローズテストと予測文法能力}, volume = {7}, year = {2001}, yomi = {ナカガワ, タケシ} }
