One may suspect that school-to-work transition should be less problematic in the social welfare field, but the number of students who make a choice of social work profession decrease. In such trends, students should be given a clearer future prospect by enhancing the vocational relevance of university education. In this paper, I shall argue that properly redefining the position of \"guidance of social work practice\" in the whole curricula should be the first step to pave the basis for vocationally relevant university education. Specifically, the qualifications of enrollee and the goal of the \"guidance of social work practice\" must be reexamined, and the guidance programs should be carried out, even beyond the limit of social work practice, in such a way as to upgrade the work ideology of the students as well as their career development.
