The result showed that the students generally thought that playing patient's role helped them better understand patients' feelings and essence of nursing skills. As for the skill pertaining to excretion, though the students felt embarrassed and distressed when playing the patient's role, they failed to understand the actual patients' feelings. This suggested that guidance to the student be needed to place them in patients' positions. While bulk of the students assessed the patient-role-playing experience positively, some exercises made the patient-role-playing students feel uncomfortable because of the shyness to the nurse-role-playing students.
