The procedure for this paper is as follows: (1) We conducted a teaching experiment to find the most effective method of developing listening comprehension ability; the students of control group took lessons focusing on task-based activities, and the others of experimental group took ones focusing on the shadowing-oriented method. (2) JACET Listening Comprehension Test Basic Form A was given in April as the pretest and Basic Form B was in December as the posttest. (3) The results and the learners' feedback were analyzed. The following results were obtained: (1) The shadowing-oriented teaching approach was effective for slow learners to develop their listening comprehension ability. (2) It seemed to the students that the practice of reduction was effective to develop their listening skill. (3) It seemed to them that the shadowing method was effective to obtain the rhythm and intonation of English.
